About Us

At Doyle & Roth, we have extensive experience designing and fabricating shell and tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels. Our engineers can give comprehensive Thermal design and Mechanical optimization. Doyle & Roth takes pride in offering great customer service while keeping affordable price and quality.

Our in-house Process Engineers do all thermal design, leveraging Aspen Tech Thermal Rating tools and custom created programming. We work on the assumption that accurate outcomes require proper and detailed input. Our engineers build based on their expertise and knowledge of thermal characteristics, with the software serving solely as a tool.

All major industrial shell and tube heat exchanger equipment, including single phase, multi phase, condensers, evaporators, and custom units, may be designed by us. A comprehensive list of services is available on our Capability page.

We may offer value engineering solutions by providing entire thermal design, rating, or reviewing your calculations.

Our engineers are experienced in heat transfer equipment design and mechanical optimization. We are highly knowledgeable in the interpretation of client specifications and have a good understanding of all pertinent codes and design references such as ASME, TEMA, API 660, and PIP.

Doyle & Roth has always been on the leading edge of mechanical design software use. We collaborated with developers in the early phases to give advice on industry standards, computations, and output format. This has aided in the optimization of software that is still in use today.

We continue to employ the Aspen Mechanical Suite, which builds on the long history of B-JAC Teams software to optimize design by detecting essential component interaction. This, along with our in-house custom programmed mechanical software, allows us to decrease material utilization, resulting in an efficient, cost-effective design of shell and tube heat exchangers.

When we get your request, each unit is examined for conformity with the submitted Datasheet and, if necessary, thermally rated. Our engineers thoroughly evaluate all specifications to ensure that all project needs are met.

Then, utilizing current material costs, each unit is mechanically developed and individually priced. If a particular material is necessary, we contact our vendor community to inquire about the market worth of that exact goods.

Prior to submitting our proposal, a Senior Executive at Doyle & Roth reviews and signs off on the bid package, which includes price, customer information, specification notes, mechanical calculations, and, if necessary, thermal rating and TEMA Datasheet.

The use of 3D design tools simplifies the design and manufacture of very complex shell and tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels. This approach saves time and money by properly dimensioning components with difficult geometric characteristics and ensuring clearances before production begins. The client also benefits from the usage of this model when developing pipe layouts and evaluating the plant’s spatial needs.

All of our welders are ASME, AWS, and API certified and can weld Carbon, Low and High Alloy Steels, Nickel, Nickel Alloys, Copper Alloys, Chrome-Moly, Hastelloy, Incoloy, Inconel, Duplex, and all grades of Stainless Steel, among other materials. Our shop is equipped and knowledgeable in the following welding techniques:

Welding Ability
Gas Metal Arc (GMAW) MIG
Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW) TIG
Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) FCA
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Stick
Weld Overlay

Our craftsmen have an average of 20 years of expertise precision fabricating bespoke body flanges, tubesheets, baffles, and other components up to 84″ in diameter.

Cylinders larger than 24″ in Carbon Steel and larger than 12″ in Alloys, with a thickness of 1 1/4″ and a length of 18′ are rolled in-house. We can shear and bend plates that are up to 1/2″ thick.

Machining & Rolling Equipment:
Horizontal Lathes (up to 84″)
Rollers (up to 1 1/4″ thick)
300 Ton Capacity Hydraulic Brake and Shear
Automatic Manipulators & Positioners

Doyle & Roth use high precision automated technology capable of drilling deep holes with remarkable accuracy. Our CNC machine is used to drill tubesheets, baffles, and flanges for precision and speed. The equipment is programmed by our shop experts straight from the fabrication CAD designs. The item is subsequently positioned in place and the drilling operation is monitored by qualified machinists.

Drilling Equipment:
Radial Drills (up to 5′ arm, 13′ column)
Dual Spindle N/C Gun Drill (90″x90″x20″ depth)
Vertical Boring Mill (up to 84″ dia)

Tube Bending
We have the capacity to bend tubes for “U” Bundles in-house. Our gear and workers are competent in bending all tube grades and sizes to a specific radius while considering tube wall thickness reduction.

To maximize efficiency, all components are manufactured and assembled at the same location. Our assemblers are familiar with all TEMA pressure vessel types, such as fixed tubesheet, floating tubesheet, and U-Tube exchangers.

Assembly Space
70′ x 230′ Bay with 28′ Under Hook
70′ x 190′ Bay with 12′ Under Hook
40′ x 110′ Bay with 45′ Under Hook

At our fabrication plant, we keep a substantial amount of stock material on hand. Purchasing material in bulk saves us a lot of money, which we pass on to our clients. We can save manufacturing time by drawing from our stock because we have this material on hand. In an emergency, depending on the material and unit size, we can ship within a week.

Tubes, Plate, SE Heads, Pipe, ANSI Flanges, Ring Forgings, Rods, Couplings, and Miscellaneous Components are among the goods in our collection. These products are available in Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and a variety of speciality Alloys. Other job-specific products are obtained from reliable vendors with whom we have developed connections over our 80-year history.

The Doyle & Roth fabrication complex is 360,000 square feet in size, with 120,000 square feet of covered work space. We have been operating from this location since the 1960s. This Simpson, PA facility has all of our fabrication equipment and supplies, as well as office space for plant management and engineering.

Customers interested in learning about our process and fabrication technologies are given tours of our plant on a regular basis.
